Instructions for paper submission
| As usual, DCIS will
accept regular submissions and shorter industrial communications. English
is the official language of the Conference. Papers must be prepared using
the A4 paper format and should not exceed
6 pages for regular papers
or 4 pages for papers from industry, including the title page, all
illustrations and references. Electronic submission is encouraged and should
be in PDF or Postscript format. If it is impossible for you to submit your
paper electronically, you can prepare it according to the instructions
below and send it via regular mail to the DCIS2001 secretariat (see address
below). Note that in case of acceptance of your paper, you must be aware
that only the electronic format will be accepted for the final version.
To ensure a blind review process, each paper submited must not include
any reference to the authors or their affiliation. The identification
of each paper is done with a submission ID that is assigned automatically
when you submit your summary via the web page, or with a separate cover
sheet if you send your contribution by regular mail. |
Guidelines for formatting your paper
| The guidelines for formatting papers
can be downloaded from the links below:
MS
Word (54KB) RTF
(134KB) PDF
(93KB) PS
(80KB) |
Electronic submission
Electronic submission to DCIS'2001
is done in three steps:
1 - Summary submission
2 - Submission notification
3 - Paper submission
1 - Summary submission
| You must submit a summary of your
paper including title, author information, contact person and abstract.
To submit your summary please follow the link
SUMMARY
SUBMISSION |
2 - Submission notification
| Following the summary submission,
you will then be assigned a paper ID that will be sent to you by email.
This submission ID will be needed for submitting your paper. |
3 - Paper submission
| After you have obtained your submission ID, you must send the electronic version of your paper
(PDF or PS format)
to the DCIS2001 secretariat. You can send the file by email or anonymous ftp. In both cases, the file name should be
#####.ps or #####.pdf, where
##### is the the paper ID that was assigned to your submission. Note that
the submission should only include the paper itself, with no indication
of the author names and affiliation to guarantee the blind review process.
3.1 - Submission by ftp
-
If your browser supports ftp, open ftp://ftp.fe.up.pt/dcis2001
and drop your file. Don't forget to change before the file name
as explained above.
-
If you use any other ftp program, open
an anonymous ftp session to the address ftp.fe.up.pt, go to the directory
/dcis2001 and transfer your file. Don't forget to set the transfer mode
to ASCII for PS files and binary for PDF files. Note that you will not
see any file in this directory and you will not be able to change the file
name after upload.
-
Send an email to DCIS2001@fe.up.pt
to notify you have uploaded the file.
-
If you need to resend an updated version
of your paper, repeat the same procedure described above, but append a
capital letter to the file name, starting from A. For example, if 345001
was the file name of the first version, use 345001A for the second version,
345001B for the third one, and so on. Don't forget to notify DCIS2001@fe.up.pt
whenever you upload newer versions of your paper.
|
3.2 - Submission by email
| Send an email to the address DCIS2001@fe.up.pt,with
your PDF or PS file attached, and include in the subject field the text
DCIS2001
PAPER ID #####, where ##### is the paper ID that was assigned to your
submission. |
|
|
Submissions by regular mail
(ONLY if you cannot submit your
summary electronically via the web page)
Each submission should include one
cover page and 6 stapled copies of the complete manuscript,
and must be sent to the DCIS2001 secretariat (see address at bottom of
this page).
-
The cover page should include:
Name, affiliation, and complete
address for each author
A contact person including his/her
telephone number, fax number, and email address
A list of topics of interest (see
list above)
-
The manuscript should include:
Title of the paper, without any
reference to the authors, to guarantee the blind review process.
60-word abstract indicating the
significance of contribution
The complete text of the paper in English, including all illustrations and
references, not exceeding 6 A4
pages for regular communications and 4 A4 pages for industrial communications.
