EM 205 - Mechanical Engineering Drawing (Desenho de Construção Mecânica)

STANDARDIZATION in mechanical engineering drawing. DIMENSIONAL AND GEOMETRICAL PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS AND VERIFICATION: dimensional (complements) and geometrical tolerancing (individual and general tolerances), surface texture; fundamental tolerancing principle (principle of independency, envelope requirement, maximum material principle). MECHANICAL SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS FOR GENERAL USE: screw threads, bolts, screws and nuts, washers, pins, retaining rings, rivets, welding, shafts, splines, keys and keyways, rolling bearings, seals for dynamic application, springs and gears. DESIGN DRAWINGS: assembly drawings in orthographic representation and item lists, with the selection of standardized mechanical components. DETAIL DRAWINGS: geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (functional analysis, dimensional chain analysis, etc.). PRODUCTION DRAWINGS: manufacturing drawings (the need for tolerance transfer) and general assembly drawings (orthographic representation and exploded views of assemblies). Short reference to technical catalogue drawings. DIAGRAMMATIC DRAWINGS.

Objectives

Development of standardization concepts in Mechanical Engineering Drawing. Improvement of spatial visualization and technical communication skills. Introduction to the design drawing. Introduction to the functional analysis of mechanical systems, through the reading of their assembly drawings and the detail drawing of some of their components. Development of the ability to establish relationships between the design, product definition, manufacturing and verification phases.
