The Informatics Engineering Master will not accept new applicants starting academic year 2007/08.  New candidates should apply to MIEIC 2nd cycle (Informatics and Computation Engineering Integrated Master).

Informatics Engineering Master course aims at promoting highly qualified professionals and researchers in advanced subjects in Informatics and Computing Science including fundamental theoretical aspects, specification, design, representations, distribution and exploitation of Information System and the integration of information technologies in organizations.

The teaching subjects of the course are articulated in order to achieve competencies in the end that may be characterized in term of the tasks that may be performed:

• Software engineering expert, with technical and management responsibilities in software houses or enterprise software or departments
• Information systems expert, with responsibilities in management of large data repositories
• Expert in analysis, development and maintenance of distributed applications and distributed Information systems based in Internet technologies and in the Web
• Expert in intelligent systems for decision support and electronic commerce
• Expert in language processing and translation for information representation and retrieval
• Expert in multimedia systems, technologies and services, mainly in computer image synthesis and its application in virtual and hybrid systems
