Useful information
that I am finding out about FEUP and DEEC
FEUP
- Getting your access card
- To get the FEUP access card you must be in SIFEUP (Sistema de
Informação da FEUP, or so I was told). If you are not
yet in SIFEUP, ask Rosário
Macedo about it.
If you have a SIFEUP login, upload a picture of yourself and
CICA will have a card ready for you within 2-3 days.
- Access to buildings, rooms, and parking lot
- For access permission to buildings, labs, rooms and parking
lot, you need first to get an access card (see above). Then talk
to Dr.
Isidro Ribeiro to arrange the permissions you need within
DEEC. He will also tell you whom to talk to to get permission to
other rooms.
- Library
- The big cube between the main buildings and the students'
parking lot is the library. You need to
get registered at the entrance to be able to lend books, and you
will need to have an access card to get registered.
DEEC
- Video-conference Room
- DEEC has a video conference room: I025.
Be sure to book well in advance, as it is often in use. Call Dr.
Rosário Macedo to book the room.
- Teaching Assignements
- This is on the verge of changing, so check whether this is
still true at the time you read it (status June 28th 2010).
Address your section coordinator (in Telecommunications,
currently Prof.
Mário Jorge Leitão). Ask him/her for the still open
assignements for the semester(s) you are looking at, and let
him/her know your preferences. They try to fullfill the
preferences to the most, but seniority usually gives priority.
So, if you wish to teach any course, look up the responsible in
the previous edition and contact him/her, asking if there are
needs or letting him know about your availability.
Even if you wish to teach courses under the coordination of
other sections, you should first address the coordinator of your
section.
- MSc Thesis Co-supervision within FEUP
- Professor in charge of the MSc thesis co-ordination for the
year should be informed as soon as possible of the co-supervision
and be provided with full name and affiliation of
co-supervisors.
- MSc Thesis Co-supervision with other institutions
- If that cooperation is officially with you as a FEUP professor,
and not another external institution that you may be affiliated
with, tell Dr. Rosario Macedo about it and it will be added to
your supervision time.
- PDIS
- Juri should agree on a grade and inform professor responsible
for PDIS coordination of that grade. If there is no consensual
grade, juri should agree on a way to average grades proposed by
different juri members (average, weighted average, ...).
- Exams
- You are the one who should take the paper for the students into
the exam. You can find exam paper in room I021, where you can
also find a copier that you may use to make the copies of the
exam.
- Travelling
- Ask Prof.
Aurélio Campilho for authorisation, for which you will
very likely need a reason and a cost estimate for the trip (you
are usually entitled only to max 3-star rated hotels). He will
inform you of the cost centre for the trip and let Dr. Isidro
Ribeiro know. Then ask Ana
Paula Silva to assist you with booking and paperwork.
If you wish to book hotel or flight yourself, you will have to
request permission in writing from the Director. Just send an email
explaining why you want to book yourself.
If you book anything yourself, be sure to get a receipt for it
with the exact following text on it:
Universidade do Porto - Faculdade de Engenharia
NIF: 501413197
- Office material
- Can be requested per email from the teaching assistant, in
2009-10 Ana
Paula Silva.
- Illness
- Inform Rosário
Macedo.
- Exam supervision
- Talk to Susana
Dias.
- Juri for MSc defenses
- Talk to Rosário
Rebelo.
