FEUP is close to the Porto metro
yellow line I.P.O. station. The Faculty of Engineering of the
University of Porto (FEUP), where the CIFIE’2010 conference takes place, is
located in the periphery of the city, but served by a metro station: yellow
line I.P.O. station (approx. 5 minutes walking distance from I.P.O. metro station to FEUP). If you prefer to stay near FEUP, HOTEL
IBIS** (Rua Dr. Plácido
Costa) is located just near to the mentioned metro station, and is
included in a building where there is also a small shopping centre with some
simple restaurants. IBIS is a chain of simple hotels very commonly found in
Europe. However, since FEUP is served by the
metro, there is not really a need to stay close to FEUP; the metro ride from
the centre of the city will take 15-25 minutes, depending where you are in
the centre. If you would prefer the city centre, there are many alternatives. For those that appreciate 5 stars
hotels in the center of the city, there is INFANTE DE SAGRES***** . Cheaper and simpler, an interesting choice is GRANDE
HOTEL DO PORTO***. Another more recent alternative is INCA PORTO****. Further to the city centre, another
area with several hotels and restaurants is "Rotunda da
Boavista". Examples include some 5 star hotels
(SHERATON, LE MERIDIEN, PORTO PALÁCIO), but also 3- or 4-star accommodation,
such as IPANEMA PORTO, FENIX, and TUELA. The last three are very close to
several very popular restaurants in Porto (restaurant Capa
Negra, restaurant Gambamar,
for ex.). However, in case you want to use metro, reaching the area station
(Casa da Musica station)
may need some walking. It is however very easy to get to the city center from
this zone by bus. Taxis are also not expensive in Porto. |
