Detection of Pulmonary Nodules Based on a Template-Matching Technique

The purpose of this study is to develop a simple technique for computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system to detect lung nodules in chest radiographic images. A conventional template matching was employed to detect the nodules, and after initial detection, we extracted 7 feature values and used them to eliminate false-positives findings. Despite the expected, the project never had the contributions of a professional physician, so the results are deprived of any medical verification. Given this, we aimed at the detection of every circular abnormalities (that most likely will correspond to pulmonary nodules).
