HIGHLIGHTS FOR THIS EDITION OF EQUIFASE

  • Renewal and Expertise. Special care was taken in the choice of the plenary and invited lectures. Neither invited speakers from the previous edition were selected, nor from the members of the International Scientific Committee. Efforts were made to have both senior as well as promising young researchers in the list of invited speakers.

  • Broader scope. Not just classical topics in phase equilibria will be discussed. The selection of the plenary lectures was carefully considered in order to cover different areas and to include emerging topics on thermodynamics and new applications of thermodynamics for the chemical, biochemical, food and pharmaceutical industries. The objective is to better understand, calculate or predict equilibrium and transport properties for an improved design of chemical processes and products.

  • No parallel sessions. All oral contributions will be presented on the same theater. This will encourage a broader dissemination of results and stimulate discussions among scientists from different research areas. Poster presentations will also have dedicated time slots for providing adequate discussion and the establishment of new research collaborations.

  • Right balance of academic and industrial participants. Efforts will be made to bring to this conference a reasonable number of industrial participants, thus providing both fundamental and practical aspects of applied thermodynamics, as well as different perspectives on chemical processes (molecular vs. process perspectives), maintaining the high standard of quality.

  • Interaction among participants. The conference area was carefully selected in order that all participants would be at the same place during the conference. The selected hotel has all the facilities to conveniently accommodate everybody. Coffee breaks, all meals, social programmes (and free time) were carefully planned in order to bring together every participant, thus maximizing the interactions among all. An adequate balance between scientific and social programmes was carefully considered.

  • Award for the best poster: An award to the best student poster and a reduced fee for PhD. students were considered in order to bring young and promising researchers to this Conference. Young researchers will be accommodated in the same hotel as senior researchers, thus providing an adequate mixing of “new blood” with experience.
