About ESICUP

EURO Special Interest Group on Cutting and Packing

ESICUP gathers practitioners, researchers and Operations Research educators with interests in the area of Cutting and Packing. The purpose of ESICUP is to improve communication among individuals working in this field. Besides the promotion of publications, the activities of the group include the maintenance of this web page and the organization of meetings.

Founded in 1988, during the EURO/TIMS Conference in Paris, by Prof. Harald Dyckhoff and Prof. Gerhard Wäscher, the group has now around 500 members from the entire world.

ESICUP is since 2003 an EURO Working Group of the Association of European Operational Research Societies.

During its life ESICUP has already promoted four special numbers of EJOR on Cutting and Packing:

* H. Dyckhoff and G. Wäscher, EJOR 44 (2) (1990)
* E. Bischoff and G. Wäscher, EJOR 84 (3) (1995)
* P. Wang and G. Wäscher, EJOR 141 (2) (2002)
* J.F. Oliveira and G. Wäscher, EJOR 183 (3) (2007)

The group has also organized workshops within major OR conferences, mainly under the form of invited sessions or organized clusters. Since 2003 the group has also organized a yearly Meeting.

We encourage both researchers and practicioners interested in Cutting and Packing to join us. To see a list of current members, go to our members page.
