The Conference

The 1st Experiment@ International Conference aims to start a biannual event devoted to remote and virtual labs, also exploring innovative technologies as virtual reality and haptic devices. Its universal name, Experiment@ is adequate to turn it into an itinerant event.

The 1st Experiment@ International Conference will be held at Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, Portugal. Its main goal is to foster the expansion and association of on-line labs consortia in order to enlarge the world capabilities in this particular area, contributing to collaborative work in emergent technologies. The 1st Experiment@ will provide a two-day forum of discussion and collaboration between academics, researchers, k-12 teachers and industry, trying to bridge the gap between academic applications and results as well as real world needs and experiences.

The 1st Experiment@ International Conference will include the presentation of the final results of the Project Experiment@Portugal. The project aims to create a Portuguese organized consortium by providing a unified platform for hosting structured information of all the Portuguese virtual and remote labs. It also intends to foster the involvement of industry focusing in lifelong learning. The conference will have three international expert invited speakers, Prof. Michael Auer from Carinthia University, Austria, Prof. James Uhomoibhi from University of Ulster, UK, and Prof. Liliane Machado from Universidade Federal de ParaĆba, Brazil.
