Commemorative scarves 2003-2004 FC Porto, again ... Champion of Europe! |
16/11/2003 - Inauguration of the Estádio do Dragão |
To celebrate the opening of the Estádio do Dragão, was put on sale a licensed edition of the embroidered type with the copyright statement of 2003. Apparently, the edition was small or the success was big, as were produced at least two more issues with dates of 2004 and 2005! It is clear that differences do not stop by the date as shown below. (Put the pointer over the image to see the date.):

Embroidered type edition, licensed by FC Porto:

Embroidered type edition, licensed by FC Porto, without red thread in the weft:
![]() |
Notice that the two former scarves are equal except that the first one seems to be done with "more red thread"! The result is that the red colour in the crests are more saturate, there is red thread in the fringes, the Monaco name has a red shadow and the whites are, actually, pink! Why? Because the first scarf has red thread in the weft and the second one not! Simple! |
Variant of the former. Not only the type is different, since this one is finely embroidered, but also the inscription, the drawing of the Stadium and the size of the crests show several differences:

One more Gelsenkirchen Final scarf! I found it on a picture in a FC Porto official products catalogue for 2004/05! However, only in 2008 I finally grabbed it! Sublimated type, double face:

2003-04 - European Champion |
Embroidered type scarf, licensed by FC Porto. "Fat cup" version:

"Slim cup" version. Despite being from the same manufacturer, has several differences in design, in addition to the cup. In particular, the copyright statement has different location:
![]() |
This third version, of the embroidered type like the previous, has been found in a street seller, only in 2006. It's likely a counterfeit since it hasn't neither the copyright statement nor any licensed product tag. There are several differences in relation to the previous versions:

This another scarf, licensed by FC Porto, not only shows minor differences but also is of the finely embroidered type:

Variant of the former, with minor differences: the date numbers are yellow instead of white, the cup is shadowed of white instead of black and the rays are white instead of blue:

German edition! Well made double face jacquard scarf. Unfortunately, in the crest there is no dragon!!! Notice also the mistake "champion's" instead of "champions"!

Edition of unknown origin, of printed satin type. It's an unusual scarf 1.77 m long! The two clubs' crests are embroidered (Put the pointer over the image to see the crests enlarged.):
Portuguese edition, non licensed by FC Porto, of the finely embroidered type:

2004 - All-time Cups |
Embroidered type edition, licensed by FC Porto. This scarf has been adapted from its homologous of 2003. The number of championships is still wrong! Now, 19 instead of 20! The number of UEFA Champions Cups has been modified from 1 to 2, but the word Cup (Taça) has remained in singular! (Put the pointer over the image to see the details.)
Still in 2004, in an unknown date, but apparently between August 8 (Portuguese Supercup) and December 12, (Intercontinental Cup), a second edition has been issued. There was a general review of the design, which is noted particularly in the cups, the number of Portuguese Supercups is now correct (14) and the mention "2 European Champions Cups" was also corrected. It remains wrong, however, the number of championships (19 instead of 20)! (Put the pointer over the image to see the details.)
