  • I am Assistant Professor at the Informatics Engineering Department (Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal: FEUP-DEI).

I am with the Informatics Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal (FEUP-DEI) since 2008, pursuing inter-disciplinary research in the areas of computers engineering, economics and mathematics.

In July 2008 I have obtained the PhD in Computers and Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (Portugal). The research work pursued has been in the area of e–business and interoperability in collaborative networks of enterprises, tackling technical, knowledge/ semantic and business/ economic interoperability aspects. [The Abstract and Preface are available here.]

My education is multi-disciplinary, being economist and computer engineer. I have pursued simultaneously two different faculties, receiving two diplomas (Licentiate degrees) in Economics in 2000, from the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest (Romania), being specialized in Finances, Insurances, Banking and Stock Exchange, and Computer Engineering , in 2002, from Politehnica University of Bucharest (Romania) - Computers Department. In June 2004 I have received the MSc degree from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (Portugal), Computers and Electrical Engineering Department (area of specialization: Information Technology for Enterprise Management). I have been researcher at the National Institute of Computers and Systems Engineering (Porto) while pursuing the PhD and MSc degrees, where I have participated in two EU-funded and two national R&D projects.

In 2007 I have been invited to Chair two sessions at IEEE International Conference on Service Computing 2007 (IEEE SCC 2007). In the same year, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society awarded me a scholarship.

I have participated to different certified technical courses held at engineering European universities, e.g., Lund, Sweden (2002); Bratislava, Slovakia (2000); Warsaw, Poland (1999); Coimbra, Portugal (1998), Budapest, Hungary (1997). During 2001-2002 I have been vice-president, at European level, of BEST - Board of European Students of Technology not-for-profit and non-political European student organization comprising students form 76 prestigious universities from 30 countries. In Romania, I have won prizes at olympiads in mathematics (1986-1995).
