Past Projects

ARROWS (arrowsPoster.pdf)

This project aims to provide advanced Radio Resource Management (RRM) and Quality of Service (QoS) management solutions for the support of integrated voice and data services within the context of Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (UTRA). Both Time Division Duplex (TDD) and Frequency Division Multiplex (FDD) modes are considered. The project includes packet access, assymetrical traffic anf high bitrate (2Mbit/s) services for multimedia IP based aplications.

"LAB IP" (labipPoster.pdf) (labipPresentation.ppt)

This is a project internal to INESC Porto aimed to establish a live and evolving IP infrastructure that can be used by our researchers during the development and testing of their works. This infrastructure, that is based on Linux based PCs, is oriented towards the support of QoS, Mobility and Management aspects at the IP Access and Core networks. Integration with UMTS networks is also being addressed. Currently the Lab IP supports:

"UMTS Access Network Routing"

This project, directly contracted by Siemens, is aimed to propose and prove the feasability of a router for the UMTS access network.

"WINMAN - WDM and IP Network Management" (winmanPoster.pdf)

This project aims to develop a management system that can handle heterogeneous networks, in particular those which are related with IP and WDM.

"STAT" (statPoster.pdf)

This project aims to develop a test system (protocol analyser) and test suites for the tradicional TCP/IP stack.

"Schlumberger - Testing consultancy "

This project consisted in providing consultancy to Schlumberger in three tecnhical areas: 1) ETSI V5 conformance tests; 2) access network elements production testing; 3) VoIP testing.
