Program Overview

The program is organized in two semesters for the Curricular Component plus four to six semesters for the Research Component. Part-time attending is permitted. 

Curricular Component
60 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System)

Research Component
120 ECTS

ECTS Equivalences:
In a case by case basis, depending on the candidate’s curriculum, equivalences to ECTS may be provided. However,  a minimum of 30 ECTS needs to be completed.

Final Registration:
Once the approval to the Curricular Component is obtained, the definite registration must be performed. Acceptation depends on the Doctorate Working Plan.

Supervision:
The supervisor is one FEUP Professor and one co-supervisor is admitted. A steering committee is appointed for caring for the research work developed by the student.

Target Audience

In ProDEI, preference is given to candidates motivated to the development of a scientific career, namely:

1.    Teachers and researchers from university institutions or equivalent
2.    Researchers form research institutes and centres
3.    Collaborators of enterprises or other organizations

ProDEI is directed to owners of a Master Degree or University Second Cycle presenting a strong scientific and technological education, in areas related with Informatics or Informatics Engineering as defined above. 

Selection Criteria

Criteria used for candidates selection is based on:

  • Evaluation of the presented diplomas, including classification marks. Candidates must own a Master Degree or a University Second Cycle from schools and in scientific areas that can be recognized as valid by the Program Scientific Committee.
  • Professional or Scientific Curriculum, including competences that can be recognized as relevant and appropriate by the Scientific Committee.
