  • Outstanding Research Award: Ana Regina Rocha from COPPE/UFRJ - Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has been recognized as an outstanding contributor to the QUATIC conference series, and in particular to the QUATIC'2010 edition.
  • Best Paper Award: the paper “Investigating the Evolution of Bad Smells in Object-Oriented Code” by Alexander Chatzigeorgiou and Anastasios Manakos, from the Department of Applied Informatics of the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece, has been recognized as the best paper presented at QUATIC'2010.

The International Conference on the Quality of Information and Communications Technology (QUATIC) serves as a forum for disseminating advanced methods, techniques and tools for supporting quality approaches to ICT engineering and management. Practitioners and researchers are encouraged to exchange ideas and approaches on how to adopt a quality culture in ICT process and product improvement and to provide practical studies in varying contexts. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Quality in ICT Verification and Validation
• Quality in ICT Service Management
• ICT Process Improvement and Assessment
• Quality Evolution in ICT
• Standardization and Certification in ICT
• Quality in ICT Outsourcing and Insourcing
• Quality in ICT Requirements Engineering
• Quality in Model Driven Engineering
• Quality in ICT Reengineering and Refactoring
• Quality in Agile Methods
• Quality in Web Engineering
• Teaching ICT Quality

To foster the dissemination of best practices in industry, to allow a lively discussion of hot topics, to have hands-on contact with new tools, to gather around informal discussion groups (aka birds-of-a-feather) on subjects suggested by the conference participants themselves and also to allow conference sponsors to spread their message, we will have a dedicated Industrial Track, that will run in parallel with the Main Track.

• A high-quality scientific program with more than 70 peer reviewed papers from nearly 20 countries, covering a wide range of hot topics in ICT Quality of interest to researchers and practitioners. All papers are presented in focused thematic tracks that run in parallel in day 1, and a selection of 16 best papers are presented in the main track in days 2 and 3.

• 10 engaging keynote speakers, leading experts in the conference topics, which will present their work and vision in plenary sessions of the main track. Some thematic tracks in day 1 also have keynote speakers.

• A full-day CMMI tutorial by a SEI/CMU specialist, on day 1, covering the whole CMMI suite (principally Development but also Services and Acquisitions) and the new features of version 1.3.

• Industrial sessions in days 2 and 3, running in parallel with the main track, more directed to the practitioners, featuring several panels and expert sessions, including first person reports on nationwide software process improvement initiatives (in Brasil, Mexico, Spain and Portugal) and application lifecycle management methodologies and technologies (from Microsoft and IBM).

• Direct interaction with experts - researchers, practitioners and educators - from more than 20 countries.

• Excellent networking opportunities along the several sessions, breaks and social events.

• A poster track that allows face to face discussions with experts.

• The most significant event in Portugal dedicated to the quality of ICT.

• A beautiful host city (Porto), thriving host university, and an exciting social program visiting Porto historic centre (UNESCO World Heritage), Casa da Música, and Alto Douro Wine Region (UNESCO World Heritage).
