How to travel to Porto

There are direct flights to Porto from many locations in Europe. The Porto airport is officially known as “Aeroporto Internacional Francisco Sá Carneiro”.

Another option to travel to Porto is via Lisbon.

From Lisbon (Lisboa)

  • By train (Alfa or Intercidades express trains)

    Alfa takes 2H30 and Intercidades takes around 3H. Timetables can be consulted and train tickets can be bought online (select “Oriente” as Lisboa train station and “Porto Campanhã” as Porto train station) or can be bought at the train station.

    There is a metro line from the Lisbon airport to the “Oriente” train station (it takes around 10 minutes). After arriving in Porto (at the “Porto Campanhã” train station), one can take the metro to “Casa da Música” (check section How to get to the Crowne Plaza Porto).

  • By airplane

    There are direct flights from Lisbon to Porto (over 8 flights per day). The flights can be checked/booked online.

From the Porto airport to the hotel

  • By metro

    In the airport metro station, take line E towards the “Estádio do Dragão” metro station. Exit at the “Casa da Música” metro station and catch the bus no. 201 (towards "Viso) or no. 203 (towards "Castelo do Queijo). Exit the bus at the “António Cardoso” bus stop (the Crowne Plaza Porto is located within 50m and is visible from the bus stop).

  • By bus

    Near the airport take the bus no. 601 (towards “Cordoaria”) and exit at “Casa da Música” bus stop. Once there, you should take the bus no. 201 (towards "Viso) or no. 203 (towards "Castelo do Queijo). Exit the bus at the “António Cardoso” bus stop (the Crowne Plaza Porto is located within 50m and is visible from the bus stop).

  • By taxi

    From the airport you can take a taxi directly to the Crowne Plaza Porto (the journey takes approximately 20 minutes and costs between 20 and 30 EUR).

  • By metro

    Leaving from the “Avenida dos Aliados”, continue by going up towards the “Trindade” metro station (behind the City Hall/”Câmara Municipal do Porto”) and take the line A, B, C, or E, towards “Casa da Música”. Exit at the “Casa da Música” metro station and take the bus no. 201 (towards "Viso) or no. 203 (towards "Castelo do Queijo). Exit the bus at the “António Cardoso”.

  • By bus

    Leaving from the “Avenida dos Aliados”, take the bus no. 201 (towards “Viso”). Exit the bus at the “António Cardoso”.

  • Porto Bus Services (STCP)

    Porto and its surrounds is served by an extensive bus service called STCP. The tickets you buy for the Metro network can be used in the bus system.
