The BIN@ network’s first mid-term event took place from 31 May – 1 June 2017 in Targoviste, Romania, and was organised by the Valahia University of Targoviste (partner of BIN@ network since 2015).

The BIN@TARGOVISTE 2017 mid-term event was held within the framework of series of activities dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Valahia University of Targoviste.

At the opening of the session the floor was taken by the Rector of the university, Prof. Calin D. Oros, by  Mr Daniel Cristian Stan (Mayor of Targoviste), Prof. Gabriela Teodorescu (Vice-rector in charge with University Research and Creation) and by the representatives of BIN@ network, Mr Pedro Coelho (coordinator of BIN@ at the University of Porto) and Mr Mark Sanderson (coordinator of BIN@ at the University of Sheffield). In these speeches, an emphasis was placed on the importance of innovation in the key areas of interest for Europe (electric mobility, transport, virtual testing methods, geo-localization systems, etc.). During other parts of the 2-day event, Valahia University of Targoviste was also represented by the three directors of the research centers: Prof. Lavinia Buruleanu, Prof. Claudia Stihi and Prof. Rodica Ion, as well as by Mr Ionut Savoiu, representative of Molbak Project S.R.L. The list of event’s contributors also included Romanian businesses like Renault Technologie Roumanie, Deloitte Romania, Romanian Space Agency, Typhoon HIL and Keshe Romania.

The results of the scientific research were presented by University of Porto (Mr Pedro Coelho, Prof. Luís Filipe Malheiros, Prof. Vitor Anjos, Mr Carlos Oliveira and Prof. Armando Araujo), University of Sheffield (Mr Mark Sanderson, Dr. Jonathan Paragreen and Dr. Michel Le Lerre), and by Silesian University of Technology (Dr. Marcin Gorski and Dr. Gregorz Klapyta). Aside the aforesaid, the networking event also included an exhibition of innovative products devoted to the results gotten from the application of scientific research, with a special focus on the three electric cars (RTR). The action was carried out with the support of Renault Technologie Roumanie, Deloitte Romania and Feeria e-Laboratory.
