The BIN@ network’s first mid-term event took place 31 May – 1 June 2017 at Targoviste, Romania, and was organised by the Valahia University of Targoviste (partner of BIN@ network since 2015).

The BIN@Targoviste 2017 mid-term event was held in the context of the series of activities dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Valahia University of Targoviste.

At the opening of the session the floor was taken by the Rector Calin D. Oros of the Valahia University of Targoviste, Daniel Cristian Stan (Mayor of Targoviste), prof. Gabriela Teodorescu (Vice-rector in charge with University Research and Creation) and by the representatives of BIN network, Pedro Coelho (University of Porto) and Mark Sanderson (University of Sheffield). In these speeches, an emphasis was placed on the importance of innovation in the key areas of interest for Europe (electric mobility, transport, virtual testing methods, geo-localization systems, etc.).

The results of the scientific research were presented by: Pedro Coelho, Luís Filipe Malheiros, Vitor Anjos, Carlos Oliveira and Armando Araujo (University of Porto); Mark Sanderson, Jonathan Paragreen and Michel Le Lerre (University of Sheffield) and by Marcin Gorski and Gregorz Klapyta (Silesian University of Technology Gliwice).

On its behalf, the Valahia University of Targoviste was represented by three directors of the research centers: Lavinia Buruleanu, Claudia Stihi, Rodica Ion, and also Ionut Savoiu, representative of Molbak Project S.R.L. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the business environment: Liviu Popescu (Renault Technologie Roumanie), Silviu Sandache, Cristina Cojocaru and Gabriel Grigorescu (Deloitte Romania), Vlad Olteanu (Romanian Space Agency), Dragan Zuber (Typhoon HIL ), Zoltan Marosy (Keshe Romania).

The event also included an exhibition of innovative products devoted to the results of the application of scientific research, with a special focus on the three electric cars (RTR). The action was carried out with the support of Renault Technologie Roumanie, Deloitte Romania and Feeria e-Laboratory.
