Call for Special Sessions

The Organizing Committee invites you to organize a special session for Controlo 2016. Controlo 2016 will include special sessions, in addition to regular ones. Special sessions  should complement the regular technical programme with emerging topics of interest.

Proposals for special sessions must describe the motivation and relevance of the session. They must include title, authors and a short abstract of a sample of 3 to 5 component papers. Papers in a proposed special session will go through the review process of all the other papers submitted to the conference. If you are interested in organizing a special session, please submit an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Session – Instrumentation, Modelling and Control in Agriculture

Introduction

The session "Instrumentation, Modelling and Control in Agriculture" is an opportunity to discuss the latest research developments and innovations in the field of automatic control applied to agriculture, food and forestry sectors. Our hopes are that this session will provide a lot of discussion and exchange of interesting results, new ideas and visions for a growing application of automation and control technologies in the agri-food and forest industries. This session is in focus with the CONTROLO 2016 goal to affirm the contribution of control and automation technologies to human well-being and to the sustainability in the social, economic, environmental and productive contexts.

The session papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference, Springer Lecture Notes on Electrical Engineering, indexed by ISI Proceedings, EI-Compendex, SCOPUS, MetaPress and Springerlink.

Session – Structural vibration control and computer-integrated manufacturing

Introduction

Structural control is a relatively new engineering field aimed to develop “smart” devices for a wide range of mechanical and structural engineering applications. Controllable vehicle suspension systems and advanced control systems to reduce seismic and wind-induced vibrations in tall buildings and cable-stayed bridges are acknowledged engineering applications in which vibration control technology has proven to be very effective. This special session will be devoted to the modelling, simulation, design and application of structural control systems to provide a dedicated forum for the discussion of vibration control technology for mechanical and structural applications. Particular emphasis will be given to innovative control devices, advanced control laws and efficient simulation models for passive, active, semi-active and hybrid control systems. Experimental models and actual applications of structural and mechanical vibration control systems are also included.

The development of new or improved industrially manufacturing technologies that has been carry out in last decades brings the need of new equipment and strategies. Preference will be given to works describing research whose initial viability has been demonstrated either in the real manufacturing companies or experimentally in the laboratory. Case studies where are described the transfer of technology and the evolution from research centers to industries and the implementation of new technologies in industry.

The session papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference, Springer Lecture Notes on Electrical Engineering, indexed by ISI Proceedings, EI-Compendex, SCOPUS, MetaPress and Springerlink.
