The Symposium on Occupational Safety and Health is organized by Ph.D. students of the Doctoral Program in Occupational Safety and Health, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.

This symposium aims not only to disseminate innovative results throughout the scientific community in Occupational Health and Safety but also to build networks comprised by highly qualified participants and relevant companies. The symposium will cover a broad-spectrum of areas such as environmental and occupational Exposure, occupational medicine, ergonomics, work-related psychosocial issues and occupational comfort.

Instructions

Oral presentations

The duration of oral presentations will be 15 minutes, including 5 minutes for discussion and questions.

Prior to each session, authors should bring their presentations (power point format) to the session venue. For more information, please check the detailed session schedule.

Poster presentations

The poster session will be held in the corridor B – next to the coffee break area. The placards will have a numbered tag indicating the location of each poster presentation.

Authors should bring their posters printed, A0 (841 mm x 1189 mm) portrait format. The Symposium Organization will provide push pins to attach the posters.

Authors are expected to be present next to their poster during the poster sessions.

Topics of interest

Ph.D. students, MSc students, and other young researchers are welcome to present their work in this Symposium, based on the following topics of interest:

  • Occupational exposure and toxicology
  • Work-related stress and burnout
  • Safety and hygiene at work
  • Occupational health

 Prizes

All submissions to the Symposium on Occupational Safety and Health will be automatically included in the contest for the following prizes:

  • Best oral communication
  • Best poster

 

 Publication agreement

All accepted abstracts submitted within the deadline will appear in the Symposium’s Proceedings Book.

The authors of the best abstracts will be invited to submit their full work to:
