The Systems and Components Laboratory (LSC) was created in 2001 at FEUP and is part of the Building Division of the Civil Engineering Department. The mission of the LSC is to support research, experimental teaching and the provision of external services in the field of traditionally non-structural materials and construction systems and components.

This Laboratory, in addition to allowing the development of research activity, provides FEUP students with the conditions to appreciate the need for experimental characterization of multiple construction components, as well as providing laboratory services in areas not usually covered in the region to those involved in construction.
