Dear Students,

The PhD programme iRail - Innovation in railway systems and technologies - is developed in cooperation with Faculty of Engineering/University of Porto (FE/UP) and School of Engineering/University of Minho (EE/UM), from Portugal, and Polytechnic School/University of São Paulo (PoliUSP), from Brazil.

Six (6) doctoral scholarships (BD) will be granted in the first call of the fourth edition to enroll in a Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering doctoral program, included at Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FE/UP), or in a Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Polymers doctoral program included at School of Engineering of University of Minho (EE/UM).

The six (6) BD research scholarships will be integrated in the research streamlines of the iRail programme, close to the Innovation Programmes established in the Strategic Master Plan of Shift2Rail (www.shift2rail.org), the first European Rail Joint Undertaking aiming to foster research and innovation in rail products and solutions.

Grant period: The grant will have the duration of 12 months, renewable for up to a total of four years, starting in the academic year 2018/19.

Deadline for the submission of applications: The first call is open from April 5 up to April 30, 2018.
