The city of Porto was elected the Best European Destination 2012 against 19 other European cities in a competition with 212.688 voters. It is considered is the second city of Portugal and the main industrial area of the country, served by a new international airport and connected by a modern metro network. The city is boarded by Douro river on south and Atlantic Ocean on west side, being served by a Cruise Terminal. The historic center, close to the ancient harbor was classified as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1996.
