As scheduled, we finally went to sea (to the marina, really) for our first tests under realistic conditions. We used the SR-1 hydrophone to capture the transmitted signals, for later input to the functional simulation of the receiver and the Simulink model. The tests were as follows:

  • Transmission of 0x00, 0xFF, and 0xAA bytes, plus a random data byte, at three locations (~50 m distance);
  • Same sequence at four locations, ~100 m and ~200 m;
  • Frequency sweep (with step 1,5 kHz) at two locations (~200 m), to measure transducer and channel response.

We have not yet analysed the results, as the remainder of the week was taken up by the Queima.
