Praia da Rocha, a large stretch of beach sheltered by cliffs, is known internationally and has for long been Portimão's "visiting card". Inviting to sun and sea-bathes, the sweeping bay offers excellent conditions for water sports and boat-rides. "Three Bears", "Indented Rocks" and "Two Brothers" are some of the names chosen by the local inhabitants to identify the rocks that rise from the sand, affording soothing shade when it gets too hot.

This is a strikingly beautiful area, the mountains and nature contrast perfectly with the deep blue of the ocean resulting in breathtaking views and landscapes making the Algarve one of the most popular destinations in Europe.

Extremely cosmopolitan, the zone offers an enormous variety of night entertainment, hotels, bars, restaurants, esplanades and discotheques which, together with the Casino, turn Rocha into a zone of intense commercial and tourist activity.

In the locality you also have marinas, several championship golf courses and to visit, many interesting towns and delightful fishing villages where you can sample the daily catch.
The weather in Praia da Rocha, as in all Algarve, is very pleasant all the year. October is one of the best times for a visit, when the summer heat and crowds have just left and the nice, warm, sunny and colorful Autumn days are beginning, with air temperatures between 16 and 25 ºC (61 and 77 ºF). Sea temperature is also pleasant at this time of the year: 18 ºC (64 ºF).
