PAULO PEREIRA

The will to join Industrial Engineering and Management cropped up between long familiar dialogues as I have strong economics/engineering roots within my family bosom. The major piece of advice I was given was that I should harmonize both worlds as complements of each other, which made this degree a natural choice to move on.

Another relevant aspect to highlight is the capability of this degree to be highly competitive in the enrolment process, which becomes essential to bring quality over the course of the studies. At this, FEUP is beyond dispute the leading national faculty.

Looking back in retrospective, the major idiosyncratic of this degree is the diversity of subjects in the course plan along the years, which enables students to wade through a wave of learnings bustling from mechanics to logistics allied with strong mathematical foundations during the first years. Since students get used to this wide spectrum during academic life, it becomes natural and easier to face the work life puzzlement afterwards as adaptation was trained vigorously.

In addition, being inserted in an international exchange community also allows students to touch base with other cultures and get prepared for broader environments.

In a world becoming more dependent on technology, management decisions will become critical to keep the fuel of innovation burning. Since these two worlds are altogether combined, this degree will become even more relevant and will continue to provide trustworthy business leaders for the upcoming years.
