MARIANA VERGUEIRO

The choice for the Engineering area came naturally from my love for Mathematics and Physics. The versatility of the Engineering and Industrial Management course, for associating two areas that interested me, as well as the wide range of career opportunities it offered, made my decision in this course. After the selection of the course, the choice for FEUP came more naturally, by the possibility of associating quality teaching to the recognition and prestige of studying in one of the best faculties of the country with international notoriety.

During my course, I could prove, on one hand, the rigor and demand associated with the course, which are transformed into a wide range of knowledge areas and opportunities that make the Industrial Engineering and Management course very complete and with enormous potential to open doors for a future in several areas.

I could not fail to highlight something that has marked me since the beginning of the course, the excellent spirit of unity and mutual help among all students, the ease in creating bonds of friendship and also the accessibility by the teachers.

FEUP also provides the opportunity to complete the academic course with several social and pedagogical activities that enhance the development of soft-skills, currently more and more important and sought after by employers. I highlight the importance that associativism, in particular through AGE-i-FEUP (FEUP's Engineering and Industrial Management Students Association), had in my education, and that allowed me to develop a set of technical and interpersonal skills, to be part of a network of Engineering and Industrial Management students throughout Europe (ESTIEM) and also to get closer to the business world, promoting contact with companies.

My experience allows me to recommend FEUP to all those who want to study in this area, and the course of Industrial Engineering and Management, for the quality of training and for all the opportunities and tools provided to build the future.
