The technique

The use and function of the left-hand on the point and the frets, is common to other stringed instruments being, however, the technique of the right hand a combination of two techniques already known in the end of the XV century under the name of dedilho and figueta, consisting these in the use of the index and thumb fingers in swing movement (interior/exterior to the palm of the hand), being the pulsation of the string efectuated by the nail with bracket in the pulp or, more recently, by the detachable nails of turtle or celluloid, beating each pair simultaneously.
