Science & Technology Week 2016

November, 21-25, 2016 - Departamento de Engenharia Química, FEUP

LEPABE researchers are engaged in the dissemination of scientific and technological advances in their area of competences.  Under the subject “Technological advances in emerging fields of Chemical, Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology”, high school students and teachers are visiting LEPABE’s labs during this week.

 

 

Technical Workshop: Controlo da contaminação de superfícies no meio hospitalar

November, 25th, 2016 - Sala de atos, FEUP

LEPABE researchers Olga Nunes and Manuel Simões partcipate in the technical workshop regarding contamination control of surfaces in hospital context. Metal alloys will be approached by Manuel Simões, while Olga Nunes will talk about Destruction mechanisms of bacteria by photocatalysis.

 

LEPABE Meeting 2016

LEPABE's 2016 meeting will be held at Oporto's Casa das Artes. The motto of this years event is "Collaborative Research: New perspectives".

 

 

Carlos Costa is the new Student Ombudsman

Professor Emeritus Carlos Costa is University of Porto new Student Ombudsman. His 3 year mandate started on October. Carlos Costa was LEPABE's founder and first scientific coordinator. He was was also Dean of the University of Porto. Currently he is senior researcher at LEPABE.

 

 

Daniela Capela awarded best oral presentation

LEPABE project researcher Daniela Capela was awarded best oral presentation for her work "Challenges in the Quantification of Siloxane Compounds in Environmental and Cosmetic Matrices" at the 9th European Conference on Pesticides and Related Organic Micropollutants in the Environment and the 15th Symposium on Chemistry and Fate of Modern Pesticides.

 

Joana Loureiro wins Fullbright Grant

LEPABE researcher and postdoctoral student Joana Loureiro wins a highly competitive Fulbright Grant 2016/2017.

She will pursue her research for six months at The George and Cynthia Mitchell Center for Alzheimer's disease and Other Brain Related Illnesses of McGovern Medical School of the University of Texas.
