DSIE'13 will be held at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), which is the largest education and research institution in Portugal and considered one of the top-level engineering schools in Europe. The University of Porto has some of the most internationally renowned Portuguese research and development centers.

Since it's creation in 1926, FEUP has the mission of training high qualified engineers and practice research and development of excellence.

Nowadays, FEUP offers 20 Master and 21 Doctoral programs, in full accordance with the Bologna model.

The FEUP community comprises:

• 8538 students (enrolled in 2011/2012 academic year)
• 540 teaching staff members (86% holding a PhD)
• 326 non-academic staff
