CNME2018 is the eleventh national gathering of a prestigious series of conferences coordinated by APAET, the Portuguese Association for Experimental Stress Analysis (Experimental Mechanics). This series of conferences started in 1986 and they have been wholly devoted to advances in Experimental Mechanics, and its applications to development of new materials, structural integrity and design in the different branches of engineering and biomechanics.

In the meantime, important and dramatic improvements in systems and components design can be made by the use of the latest advances in computational mechanics and materials. These topics are complementary to experimental techniques in many fields such as, mechanical engineering, civil and structural engineering, automotive, locomotive and aerospace engineering, biomedical, environmental, and nuclear engineering, for which it was decided to launch the First Theoretical and Experimental Mechanics and Materials Iberic Conference (TEMM2018 ), jointly organized with the traditional CNME2018 .

CNME2018 & TEMM2018 are planned for November 4-7, 2018 in a central hotel of the beautiful city of Porto (Portugal), and they will be sponsored by APAET-Portuguese Association for Experimental Mechanics, FEUP-Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto and EEI-Escuela de Enxeñería Industrial de la Universidad de Vigo.

The conference will cover the following general topics: Experimental Techniques and Instrumentation, Computational Mechanics, Composite and Advanced Materials, Mechanical Design and Maintenance, Civil Engineering Applications, Geotechnics and Soil Mechanics, and Biomedicall Applications. Over 250 delegates are expected from the Portuguese, Spanish and Latin-American scientific communities.

Papers for presentation during the conference and publication in the proceedings (e-book format with ISBN) will be accepted in any of the following languages: English, Portuguese or Spanish.
