Search for VOCE here, and apply by April 11th.The research will consist on validating and improving a method for tagging speech utterances with stress levels obtained from electrocardiogram data, and on applying machine learning techniques to large data sets of voice features with the goals of determining reduced feature sets adequate to stress detection. Additionally, it is a goal of the research to develop classification algorithms that can detect stress from a reduced voice feature set in real time in commercial off-the-shelf high-end hardware. The researcher will integrate a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and psychologists from the University of Porto and Technical University of Lisbon.
The candidates should have a Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent, with minimum grade of 14 (/20) or equivalent. Additionally, background on physiologic signal processing is advantageous, specifically in speech and/or electrocardiogram; background in machine learning advantageous; research experience in these fields is also highly valued. The candidates should have good programming skills. The candidate should have good spoken and written English skills, be self-motivated and show initiative in solving problems, and be able to work on a multidisciplinary environment.
