|||||
Summary of the proposed work:
Problem proposed | Currently, the SCOP is at the "upstream supply chain implementation stage" (WFP headquarters level) dealing with the process period from receipt of donor contribution until cargo (food) is loaded onboard ship to be delivered to the recipient country. This has concentrated on the streamlining of various HQ units' processes and introduction of several supply chain indicators and systems to support the performance measurement. Despite of its adoption, SCOP still faces several challenges that require to be analysed and resolved in order to achieve a stable improved supply chain performance.
Methodology approach | Based on six-sigma methodology
Main results to achive: | Mr. Sergio Silva will be part of a five-months sub-project (based on six-sigma methodology) that is planned to be embedded in the SCOP with a specific focus to measure, analyse and improve upstream supply chain performance. Mr. Silva will provide direct support to the project manager throughout the sub-project duration. Some of the assignment areas for Mr. Silva will be related to performance problem definition, measurement system analysis, root-cause analysis, deployment of statistical tools, hypothesis testing, comparative modelling and development of improvement plan among others.
