1. Dates, Location and Schedule
The “Business & Innovation Network @ FEUP” event will take place at FEUP Campus (Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto – Address: Rua Dr. Roberto Frias 4200-465), on November 10th, 11th and 12th 2010, between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. You may check the venue place in the interactive map, courtesy of Google Maps.

 

2. Organization
This event is organized by the Cooperation Division (Cooperation and Communication Services) of the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto.

 

3. Registration and Participation Forms
The participants must register on-line and choose the activities they want to be involved in. After registration, they will receive an auto-reply stating the submission of the registration. The active participants will then receive an email from the organization committee confirming that they are registered in the event.

There are two types of participants:

  • The “active participants”, who want to:
    • propose a presentation of their institution for the “Speed Rounds 4 Business”
      have their institution with a booth at the “Tech-based Start-up Exhibition”
    • participate in the thematic closed sessions “Think Tank @ FEUP”
    • be a sponsor of the event
  • The “attendees”, who want to:
  • attend the “Open Sessions”
  • attend the “Speed Rounds 4 Business”

3.1. Registration as exhibitors at the “Tech-based Start-up Exhibition”
The participation with exhibition booths implies the payment of a fee (please see 7-Registration Fee) which has to be done after submitting your registration. Each company can book up to 2 booths. Our services will send you an invoice with the value of your registration (please see 8-Payment Conditions).
The registration as Exhibitor entitles to:

  • 6m²(3x2) booth with carpet, one table, 2 chairs, wireless and electrical installation
  • Free parking for one car (at FEUP’s parking)
  • Participation in the welcome buffet, in the traditional “Magusto” on St. Martin’s Day and networking breakfasts
  • Promotion of the company in the promotional notebook
  • Promotion of the exhibitors on the event website with logo and link to their official web page

When making the on-line registration, each participant must select the booth(s) location, however the organization committee may relocate the booths if needed.
The Exhibition will be located at Building B, on the ground floor, along the corridor. The Exhibition areas are easily accessible to all participants.
Please note that although this exhibition is targeted to the tech-based start-ups, we strongly encourage other participants, such as other tech-based companies, Venture Capitals and Business Angels, Incubators, Sponsors and others, to register as exhibitors - the organization committee will then decide on a case-to-case basis each registration.

 

3.2. Registration for the “Speed Rounds 4 Business”
If any participant wishes to do a brief presentation about their institution, it must choose this option in the on-line registration form for participants. This activity will take place on November 10th (morning). Each institution interested in this activity will be asked to make a 10 min max presentation, followed by a short 5 min max period of Q&A.

 

3.3. Registration for the "Think Tank Sessions"," Open Sessions" and Networking activities

The registration is mandatory even for the participation in the"Think Tank Sessions"," Open Sessions" and Networking activities. There are no fees associated to the participation in these sessions.

 

4. Social Programme for Participants
The participants will benefit from a social programme free of charge offered by the organization committee, which will include:

  • a welcome buffet
  • a cultural visit to the World Heritage City of Porto (only for international partners, organization committee, sponsors and invited guests)
  • a traditional “Magusto” on St. Martin’s Day
  • several networking breaks

The participants who wish to benefit from this programme must show their interest by filling in these options in the on-line registration form. Further details will be announced by e-mail.

 

5. Registration Deadline
On-line registrations will be open until September 30th. Registrations for the exhibition booths submitted after September 30th will incur in a "Late Registration Fee". (Please see 7-Registration Fee).

 

6. Cancellation Policy
In case there are not enough participants for this event, the organization committee will inform the participating institutions about the cancellation of this event until October 15th latest.
Cancellations by the participating institutions that registered on-line must be e-mailed to [email protected] until October 15th.

 

7. Registration Fees (only for exhibition booths)
Apart from the exhibition booths, no fee will be charged to attend and/or participate in the event. Participants and/or attendees must pay for their own travel and accommodation.
The organization reserves the right to impose a limit on the number of participant institutions, if the demand for exhibition booths exceeds the available area. The determining criterion will be the on-line registration order.

8. Payment Conditions
After the on-line registration you will receive a registration confirmation and our Services will also issue the invoice.
There are two ways of payment (please note that all invoices must be paid before the meeting takes place):

  • Cheques, issued to Universidade do Porto - Faculdade de Engenharia (VAT nr. number 501 413 197)
  • Bank transfer, to FEUP’s account:

    The presentation of a copy of the document stating the effective bank transfer is required. This should be sent by email to [email protected] with a carbon copy to [email protected].

9. Promotion
The organization is responsible for publicizing this event in general media and by other means.

 

10. Security, Damages and Loss of Personal Property
During breaks and at the end of the day a room will be available for the participating institutions, where they can leave their laptops, merchandising materials, documents and other items.
The organization does not take responsibility or liability for damage to, or loss of, any institutions’ property left in the Exhibition booths prior, during or after the meeting.
The organization cannot be held responsible for any of the institutions’ material damage or disappearance, when occurred out of the meeting's schedule.

 

11. Rights and Responsibility
The organization reserves the right to change some of the information hereby provided or some of the conditions, and to cancel, change or move a reservation to another room or another booth whenever required. Every effort will be made to notify the institutions about any schedule changes or cancellations.
