DEMSSO

The Doctoral Programme in Occupational Safety and Health (DemSSO) is a markedly multidisciplinary 3rd cycle course that results from the collaboration with thirteen of the fourteen Faculties of the University of Porto:

– Faculty of Architecture of UP (FAUP);

– Faculty of Fine Arts of UP (FBAUP);

– Faculty of Sciences of UP (FCUP);

– Faculty of Nutrition and Food Science of UP (FCNAUP);

– Faculty of Sports of UP (FADEUP);

– Faculty of Law of UP (FDUP);

– Faculty of Engineering of UP (FEUP);

– Faculty of Pharmacy of UP (FFUP);

– The Faculty of Arts and Humanities of UP (FLUP);

– Faculty of Medicine of UP (FMUP);

– School of Dental Medicine of UP (FMDUP);

– Faculty of Psychology and Educational Science of UP (FPCEUP);

– Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS).

In the curricular structure of DemSSO there was a concern for the creation of an interdisciplinary doctoral program that would be an important contribution to the resolution of one of the major problems faced by Portugal and other countries, which is the lack of occupational health and safety conditions, enabling quality of life and, as far as possible, the equality of opportunities for all citizens with and without special needs.

This multidisciplinarity allows students to have a wide range of topics and areas where they can develop their PhD projects.

Specific conditions to access the cycle of studies:

Holders of a graduation of 300 ECTS (integrated master or 1st cycle + 2nd cycle, or equivalent) and 70% of the maximum grade in the home school / country in any area of knowledge.

Cases of applicants who have an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized as attesting to their ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the scientific committee of DemSSO will be analysed individually.
