JTAGer's control bar provides shortcut buttons to the
following main commands, as shown in figure 1 below:

- - File / Open
- - File / Save
- - Search
- - Clear all breakpoints
- - Goto line number
- - Run / Event-by-Event: Lowest
level of test program execution. Executes one elementary test action
at a time (e.g. TMS1 takes three elementary test actions to execute:
set TMS=1 and TCK=0; set TMS=1 and TCK=1; set TMS=1 and TCK=0).
- - Run / Step-by-Step: Executes the
test program, instruction-by-instruction.
- - Run / Execute Code:
Recommended test
program execution mode, after debugging. Menu and control bar commands
remain active during test program execution.
- - Run / Pause
- - Reset: Required to enter edit
mode (if the user wants to modify the test program after execution).
- - Run / Speed Run: Fastest test
program execution mode. Should be used only with completely debugged programs,
and when maximum speed is required.
- - Windows / State Diagrams: Shows
the state diagram of both TAP and indicates all state transitions
enforced by the test program
- - Windows / Waveforms - Shows the
waveforms (on both TAPs) resulting from test program execution
- - Utilities / Bitstream shifter -
This utility provides an interactive interface to both TAPs (buttons
replace test instructions to enable the immediate execution of test
actions)
- - Set Up: Enables the user to
modify any of the JTAGer's settings, as described in the previous
section.

Apart from the Set Up (already described) and the Use Parallel Port
buttons, most of the shortcut command buttons in the control bar are
self-explanatory.
